The ICR is ranked as the UK’s leading academic research centre. Together with our partner The Royal Marsden, we are rated in the top five cancer centres globally.
The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
ICR-CTSU is a research-led, academic clinical trials unit (CTU) within the Division of Clinical Studies at the ICR. It is a multi-disciplinary CTU, which comprises more than 90 staff, including statisticians, clinical trial programme managers, trial managers, data managers, research IT programmers, and administrative support staff. Specialising in phase II exploratory and phase III randomised trials of new treatments and technologies (including radiotherapy), the ICR-CTSU portfolio includes innovative, efficient and adaptive trial platforms, both national and international, and prioritises trials activity in three clinical and therapeutic domains: breast cancer systemic therapies and uncommon cancers; urological and lung cancer systemic therapies and early phase trials; and image-guided and local therapies.
Following the successful renewal of the CRUK core programme grant in 2018, ICR-CTSU are looking to expand their statistical and methodology leadership team. Based at the Sutton site, the new ICR-funded Career Development Faculty post will take responsibility for a component of the ICR-CTSU portfolio of clinical trials research. S/he will further develop and grow the portfolio in line with the Unit’s overall strategy and take responsibility for a number of ongoing trials as well as the development of new trials.
ICR-CTSU seek an experienced medical statistician with a research interest in clinical trials methodology and a passion for direct involvement in the oversight and leadership of academic clinical trials. The post holder will be expected to make a substantial independent intellectual contribution to clinical trial projects and be proactive in leading and contributing to broad initiatives that enhance the overall effectiveness of ICR-CTSU. In partnership with clinical opinion leaders, s/he will generate research funds to conduct and deliver clinical trials research at the international forefront. S/he will demonstrate the scientific expertise, independent intellectual contribution, creative scientific problem-solving and drive to develop into a future internationally renowned trial methodology leader.
