A Higher Scientific Officer position is available from January 2019 in the Flow Cytometry and Light Microscopy Facility, based in Chelsea. The newly refurbished facility is equipped with state of the art instruments including a lattice light sheet microscope, a diSPIM microscope, a TIRF microscope equipped for super-resolution, two spinning disk confocal systems, one laser scanning confocal microscope, three high content imaging system, three wide field microscopes, two flow cytometry cell sorters, and one flow cytometry analysis instrument.
The objective of this post is to provide support to the microscopes as well as image analysis support to members of the institute.
Applicants should have a BSc in the physical or biological sciences Documented experience of contemporary microscopy is essential and further training will be provided. Proven knowledge in advanced image analysis ranging from commercial software to the main open source tools to custom scripts in MatLab will be essential. Previous experience working in a shared resource laboratory is essential.
The appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 3 years in the first instance, with a starting salary in the range of £33,285 - £34,645 p.a. inclusive based on relevance of experience and skills.
