The Enterprise Unit includes the ICR’s business development team. It provides technology transfer expertise for the ICR and the Royal Marsden in all aspects of research collaborations, intellectual property management and commercialisation. We are looking for a new part-time (0.6 FTE) Business Development Officer to join us. Reporting to the Associate Director, Business Development the post holder will work on a portfolio of projects and will handle a busy caseload which will include:
- drafting, negotiating and concluding agreements expected to be relatively straight forward;
- working with the Associate Director, Business Development and Business Development Managers in carrying out their roles of commercialising ICR research to achieve commercial and patient benefit;
- managing and tracking projects using appropriate management information systems; and
- assisting in the identification of research within the ICR that has commercial potential or potential to be developed for patient benefit.
To be successful in this role you should be educated to degree level in a science discipline relevant to the ICR. You should be a self-starter with some understanding of commercial contracts, intellectual property management and/or exploitation and preferably some recent practical experience of successfully drafting, negotiating and concluding contracts such as MTAs or CDAs. In addition you will need to be highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a proven ability to work under pressure and balance competing priorities.
