Maternity Cover - Senior Administrative Manager

This is a temporary maternity cover post to provide some critical administrative cover to the Professor of Paediatric Solid Tumour Biology.
Please note we do not envisage this being a direct and exact cover for the existing postholder.
We are looking to recruit someone with exceptional ability and a substantive track record in providing robust proactive and reactive administrative management at a very high level. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have experience of dealing with administrative management across multiple projects and clinical trials and some project management experience would be ideal though not essential.
Experience in the not for profit/NHS/charity sector is critical and ideally the successful candidate will be familiar with scientific and medical terminology and working in a research setting. The successful candidate must be educated to degree level, ideally in business or administrative management or a scientific subject. The successful candidate must also be able to deal with working within a sometimes upsetting subject area or in an environment where animal research is routinely undertaken.
The successful candidate must have the following demonstrable personal qualities: calm, confident and meticulous approach to their work; highly organised with a real “can do” attitude. Discrete and aware of the importance of confidentiality. They should also be proficient and confident in the use of Microsoft office, Adobe, Outlook as well as mathematically literate.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POST
This post is critical to the activities of the Professor and the Team. The team’s ambition is to:
1) undertake translational research into the most devastating childhood cancer to ultimately discover better treatment options for these children;
2) to actively run clinical trials which stratify children to personalised medicine trials. To aid these ambitions it is vital that the administrative functions for this team are delivered to the highest standards.
