The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes. We provided the first convincing evidence that DNA damage is the basic cause of cancer, and today lead the world at isolating cancer-related genes and discovering new targeted drugs for personalised cancer treatment.

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) came top in the league table of university research quality compiled from the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014). Based on our publication record, citations and impact, we rank among the world’s leading cancer research centres. As a college of the University of London, the ICR provides postgraduate higher education of international distinction. We also have charitable status and rely on support from partner organisations, charities, donors and the public.

The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.

Applications are invited for an Academic Recruitment Manager to join the Research Operations team, in the Academic Services Directorate at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).  This is an exciting and key strategic opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team and be responsible for driving the process of recruitment of research team leaders (Faculty).  You will be responsible to the Director of Research Operations and provide an excellent service that covers all stages of the recruitment process.

You will have knowledge of recruitment and employment legislation, ideally knowledge of social media recruitment and an understanding of the Higher Education sector and the culture of medical research would be an advantage.  Excellent organization, communication and data analysis skills are required, along with a commitment to customer service. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with a good eye for detail, be confident to work with initiative in a busy environment with a flexible approach to work. Project Management experience would also be an advantage.

This is a busy and varied role and the ideal candidate will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple functions, good at managing and prioritising their own workload, with the ability to work on their own initiative but equally be a team player with excellent stakeholder management skills, and be able to operate to tight deadlines.  You will demonstrate tact and diplomacy, deal with confidential information, and from time to time be able to manage sensitive conversations in a supportive manner. You will be passionate about contributing to the ICR’s mission and goals.

This is a two-year fixed term appointment.
