Postdoctoral Training Fellow in Cancer Biology
Under the leadership of our Chief Executive, Professor Paul Workman FRS, the ICR is ranked as the UK’s leading academic research centre. Together with our partner The Royal Marsden, we are rated in the top four cancer centres globally.
The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
Funded by a 6-year Programme Foundation Award from Cancer Research UK, a post-doctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Alessandro Vannini, Division of Structural Biology at The Institute of Cancer Research in London. We are looking for highly motivated and creative individuals with a strong interest in cancer biology. We currently employ molecular and cell biology approaches in vitro and in vivo, to elucidate the role of the RNA Polymerase III transcription apparatus in cancer.
This is an ideal opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic scientist to join a dynamic research team with excellent collaborators and facilities. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work independently and will have the opportunity to supervise a higher scientific officer in order to establish a comprehensive research plan aimed at uncovering RNA Polymerase III role in cancer and exploit its therapeutic potential (see for example “Gouge et al., Cell 2015”).
Applicants should possess a PhD (or equivalent) in in cell biology or related disciplines and should be familiar with multiple of the following techniques: functional genomics via next generation sequencing, genome editing with CRISPR, 3D cell culture and tissue culture/engineering.
Appointment will be on Fixed Term Contract for 3 years in the first instance, with a starting salary in the range of £32,200 to £39,350 p.a. inclusive (based on previous post-doctoral experience).
Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Dr. Alessandro Vannini (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please note, this address is for enquiries only and you should not send your application to this email address.
