Research Manager – CRUK Convergence Science Centre
The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
Improving the lives of cancer patients is the mission of the CRUK Convergence Science Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and Imperial College London. We believe that breakthroughs in cancer will take place at the boundaries of different disciplines – bringing together cancer researchers, clinicians, engineers and physical scientists to create new ways to understand, diagnose and treat cancer.
We are looking for a versatile Research Manager who will support researchers working not only across disciplinary boundaries, but also between the ICR and Imperial. You will facilitate the researchers in both organisations by implementing robust and transparent operational processes, recognising where barriers to joint working need to be removed to accelerate collaborative research.
Purpose of the Role
As Research Manager, you will play a major role in supporting collaborations between researchers not only in two distinct organisations, but also across disciplinary boundaries. You will need to bring an understanding of the opportunity to apply engineering and the physical sciences to address questions in cancer and a passion for the translation of research for patient benefit. You will primarily provide support to the Centre’s Executive Management Committee and Research Subcommittee, working closely with the Committee Chair’s and Operations Director to develop and draft discussion papers and support the delivery of actions. You will manage the Centre’s funding streams, which support collaborative working between ICR and Imperial researchers and the translation of novel tools and technologies towards clinical implementation.
If you have any questions about the role, or would like to chat about it, please contact the Operations Director for the Centre, Jamie Meredith (email@example.com).
All formal applications must be submitted online. You will need to complete an application form, upload your CV and provide contact details of 2 referees. Please read the person specification carefully and describe, as part of the supporting statement of your application, how you feel you meet each of the criteria.
Please note that as this position will be working across the Institute of Cancer Research and Imperial College London, your application will be passed to Imperial College employees involved in the recruitment process.
